    Book

After posting Heather & Brad’s Bimbo’s 365 Club wedding sneak peek I realized I never blogged about their very cool film noir engagement shoot! Since from the shoot we designed a guestbook for all of the wedding guests to sign, I have decided to show you a few of my favorite pages from that book. The guestbooks are designed with a lot of white space so that guests have room to sign their well wishes to the happy couple.

This shoot was so much fun to do, and I LOVE how their book turned out! This is just a few of the pages, but check it out:

Can I just say “WOW!!” I cannot wait to see the rest of the wedding photos you blog about. The sneak-peeks where out of this world.

I just finished downloading cards from Heather & Brad’s vaudeville wedding where the Yard Dogs Road Show played, and I already have a million favorites. There was so much to see and so many creative touches! I’ll put up a whole blog post soon, but for now, here are a few:

I LOVE how this tilt-shift shot literally makes Heather & Brad look like dolls in front of Bimbo’s 365 Club.

Heather & Brad had their own marquee:

This last shot is my little homage to my friend, RJ Kern, who reminded me how much I used to like painting with light when I was a kid and just learning how to shoot.

I must get to bed… more soon!

    1. Jules, as you may remember, I at one time was one of your many “Blog Stalkers”! I admit, through life’s ups and downs I have not had as much time to follow your work as I once did. Today, I was talking to my boyfriend about you and how your work helped to change my way of looking at photography and inspired me to do more things with my business. As I look at your blog today and this particular post, your work has left me speechless just as it did a few years ago when I stumbled upon your site. Thank you for still giving me, as well as the other “Little People” the hope that one day I will be able to create photographs into an art form that others will appreciate and be left breathless! :-)

I’ll be speaking with my sister Joy on Wednesday, January 19 so be sure and check it out. Here’s a little teaser for you that Joy wrote:

Newbie talk: Joy plays the role of the new photographer, asking me about my experience in starting a new photography business. I covers everything from the very basics of which camera and lenses should you buy to how to find the right clients for you. I discusses whether you should start off working for someone else or how to launch your own business, and what it takes to be successful. Vendor relationships, sample albums, and getting images for your portfolio are all topics we cover.

Advanced talk: Joy and I discuss some of the more pressing issues for taking your wedding photography to the next level, including a discussion on pricing, client referrals, and sales. We talk about selling albums and other products, and how to stay inspired while shooting. We also debate the merits of outsourcing your work vs. having in-house employees. Finally, I demonstrate how to differentiate yourself as a professional amongst so many out there with SLRs through a discussion of off-camera lighting that I hope you will find inspiring. Listen in and get an idea or two on how you can stay ahead of the game in 2011.

We’ll be speaking at WPPI this year… Please come and visit our Platform Presentation at 3:30pm on Tuesday, February 22! There will be all kinds of prizes and fun, so come say hi! We will be talking about Sales and Marketing, and you won’t want to miss it.
