Congratulations to my beautiful clients, Leonard & Vy, who’s gorgeous San Francisco Fairmont Hotel wedding was featured in the Spring/Summer 2012 issue of The Knot. Their wedding was ALSO featured in the fabulous Style Me Pretty blog earlier this year. Way to go, guys!!

getting ready for our 2nd Annual Halloween Event!

We’ve been at the studio all day today decorating and setting up lights and pumpkins for our 2nd Annual Halloween Event! Thank you to my nieces, Penny & Millie, and of course to Ms. Olive for posing for these pre-event photos as I set up the lights and set the scene. What cute girls!!

If your little ghost or goblin will be in the Oakland, Montclair area tomorrow, come on by to be photographed, snack on treats, receive goodies and more! This year we are having the event in tandem with our neighbors, Thornhill Elementary, so donations will be collected to support the school.

Second Shooter USA

One of the most common questions I get asked at our monthly Photographer’s Meet UP/Pictage User Group or my Tea for Two is how photographers can find second shooter jobs at weddings. Everyone needs experience, but no one really knows where to find it. Well photographers! The answer is here. I was recently approached by a new site called Second Shooter USA to give a short blurb on what I look for in a second shooter. Because 10 years ago I decided to leave my life in the film industry and pursue a career in photography, I am always very proud when my friends do the same. Today I want to share with you some products from two very smart women who decided to take what they loved and create businesses. I am so impressed with them both! Check these out:

Simply Livly.
I shot Pam & Joe’s wedding six years ago at the lovely Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado, California. Recently, Pam sent me two gorgeous chunky necklaces from her new Etsy Shop, Simply Livly. They are the perfect amount of casual-to-dressy and can be worn to dress up a t-shirt or dress down a formal outfit. I LOOOVE them and I seriously can’t stop wearing them. They have the most darling tie and can easily be worn short or really long.

Crumb
Ann Marie and I worked together years ago when we both lived in Los Angeles. I remember how she would make everyone’s day by bringing unbelievable cookies, lemon bars and other delicious treats into the office. When Ann Marie moved to San Francisco, she started baking full-time and opened Crumb. Crumb has been providing a variety of cakes for a while now, but when Ann Marie told me that she decided to add cookies to her menu, I couldn’t be more excited!! Yesterday she gave me a variety of flavors which I shared at my client meeting last night…Big hit!!

ALSO, if you are a bride, Crumb is now baking cookies for weddings! “The Art of Gift Wrapping” book release is finally here!

Last year, I took on a project with the lovely Wanda Wen, founder of Soolip, and I shot all of the photography for her book, “The Art of Gift Wrapping.” The book is finally out and there is a cocktail reception this Saturday, April 17th, to celebrate! Come by to see the book and have it signed by both me and Wanda.

I liked Davina Fear the moment I met her. She has this easy, open way about her that just allows her to make friends everywhere she goes. She is a talented photographer in the South, and she has a series on her blog called “Women & Business.” I think its such a cool idea and a great way to get to know other women working in the photography industry. Currently, the woman in business Davina’s blog is featuring is our own Joy Bianchi Brown!

If you are an actor in Los Angeles, then this is the site for you!! My lovely and talented assistant, Jessica, along with her partner, Jamie, has started the very innovative business, Line Runners. Actors themselves, Jessica and Jamie created their company when they realized that actors needed to find other actors to, well, run lines with! Available practically ANY time of day, (you never know when you might get sides for an audition tomorrow!) you must check out their site if you have lines to run!
